Partner Alex Macinnes, has previous experience of dealing with issues in relation to the design and commissioning of an FPSO.
In this case, Alex Macinnes was tasked with spending two weeks in the client’s offices to investigate and determine both the factual and legal position in relation to engineering issues that had arisen in a dispute concerning the commissioning and mooring system on an FPSO.
As is often the case with offshore engineering projects such as FPSOs, new and untested technology is employed in the most demanding and harshest of environments.
Alex was able to use his own naval architecture and offshore engineering background to interview the various engineers involved in the project and to understand the complicated engineering issues involved and get to the root cause of the problems experienced. He was then able to review the (substantial) contracts involved to determine the underlying cause and liability.
